This is a list of some of the features in our new forums.

Reputation
Reputation (also referred to as "rep") can be given to users in posts. You would give a user rep if their post helped you or you really like the idea that they are explaining. When giving rep, try to post why you are giving them rep. The reason why you should do this is because it allows them to know who's giving them rep and why. The most common way of doing this would be by typing "+1 for tutorial" at the end of your post.

Do not give rep to someone just because you like them or want them to have more. I know who gives rep and what topic it was in. I can also edit your reputation amount. You are limited to 5 positive and 5 negative rep per day.

When giving negative rep, you must post why you are giving them that rep. Negative rep should be taken very seriously. If you don't like the person, don't give them negative rep everyday. I will take away your rights to give reputation if you are caught doing this.

Facebook Connect
Facebook Connect is integrated into these forums. If you go to My Settings -> Profile -> Manage Facebook Connect, you can connect your Facebook account with your forum account and have it update your status message,

Hooks
If you don't know what a hook is, I will explain. A hook is like a small application, generally is shown on that sidebar on the right side of the board index. Here are a couple common hooks: Recent Status Updates, Watched Content, Recently Added Topics. The Recent Status Updates hook shows the 10 recent status updates by all the users. You can update your status from this hook.

Shoutbox
You will notice that we have a much better shoutbox than we did before.
This shoutbox updates the shouts much nicer and is much cleaner.

Calendar
We now have a calendar. Anyone can add events, but they will have to be approved by an administrator. You can also add personal events that only you can see.

Posting
As many of you probably have noticed, if you enable the RTE (Rich-Text Editor) in your My Settings page, you will have a much nicer posting screen where you can edit the text without having to use BBCode. It's very easy to use. I have enabled it by default.

Profile
Our profile pages are much nicer than they were in the other forums.
Now you can show off your friends, show who has visited your profile recently, write something about yourself, and even leave comments to your friends. You can also update your status from your profile page and rate each other's profile. Another feature that we have is profile pictures. Don't confuse this with your avatar. Your avatar is a small picture that is shown on the member list, when you leave comments, and when you post in topics. Your profile picture will only be displayed in your profile.

RSS Feed
We now have RSS feeds. If you don't know what an RSS feed is, here's Wikipedia:

Quote

RSS (most commonly expanded as "Really Simple Syndication") is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed" or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering into the reader the feed's URI or by clicking an RSS icon in a web browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.

If you look under the logo on the right, you will see this icon: Posted Image. If you click that, you can view feeds that you could choose to subscribe to. In some browsers, there is an icon like that in the address bar on the right side. You can do the same thing to subscribe or view the feed.

Conversations
In the other forums, we used to have these long neverending private message inbox's. Well now we have conversations. You can invite up to 6 people into your conversation and store up to 50 conversations in your inbox. A conversation is a much cleaner and nicer format of the private messaging system we used to use.

You can quote multiple people in a post now or just one person if you prefer.
